HERITAGE WEEK AT MUSEUM ON THE BOYNE
It's Heritage Week in Ontario and where better to spend it than at your local museum.
On Saturday, February 25 join the Museum's Advisory Committee as they honour Mrs. Olive Lee, a local resident who has contributed to the preservation of heritage in the community. Mrs. Lee has been selected as the 2012 recipient to join the Wall of Honour. Mrs. Lee is the Secretary of the Essa Historical Society and a tremendous supporter of heritage in South Simcoe. Her many projects have included creating and selling fundraising calendars for the historical society and researching, writing and publishing historical booklets.Join us on Saturday, February 25 to recognize her outstanding contribution to heritage in our community as we unveil her place on the Wall of Honour. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. The Museum is located at

February 14 - March 28
Winters Reprieve, an exhibit of the work of 6 gifted local artists in the South Simcoe Arts Council Gallery

For this exhibit, the artists used natural materials to explore nature's bounty and create amazing works of art that are visually appealing, while still exploring form and function. View the wood turnings of Randy McLeod, fused glass works by Bridget Wilson, metal sculptures by Jane Longstaffe, encaustic works (an ancient technique of painting with beeswax and oil paint) by Andrea Bird and Daniel Beirne, and clay works by Ann Randeraad.  A Reception, with the artists in attendance, will be held on Sunday, February 19th from 2 – 5pm.  The South Simcoe Arts Council Gallery is located on the main floor of the Gibson Centre for Community Arts & Culture, 63 Tupper Street West in Alliston. Speaker Barbara White: The Evolution of My Garden. All meetings start at 7:30pm and are held at St. John’s United Church, 56 Victoria St E, Alliston. Visitors are always welcome. Come early and enjoy conversation and light refreshments.

Alliston & District Historical Society will meet on 2pm at the Museum on the Boyne,
250 Fletcher Cres, (Riverdale Park), Alliston. In co-operation with the Museum, our guest speaker, Nancy MacLeod, will be presenting "Victorian Medicine Show", the old-fashioned remedies of yesteryear. Everyone is welcome. Non-member fee $2. Refreshments will be served.
